Akyem Mampong, a farming community in the Atiwa West District in the Eastern Region has been connected to the national grid as part of efforts to open up the area.
The project, executed by the District Assembly, forms part of the government’s broader agenda to extend electricity access to all parts of the district.
At a commissioning ceremony held at Akyem Mampong last Thursday, the District Chief Executive for Atiwa West District Assembly, Mr. Amo Johnson Anom, said the electrification project would significantly improve livelihoods, enhance education, and support small-scale businesses in the community.
He pointed out that access to reliable electricity would empower households to enjoy modern conveniences and enable businesses to operate more efficiently.
He reaffirmed the District Assembly’s commitment to provide the needed development to the community, assuring them that the Assembly would soon put up a kindergarten block in the community to improve education in area.
Mr. Isaac Empraim, the Engineer for Electricity Company of Ghana, Kade branch, commended the contractor for the quality of work done and urged residents to take ownership of the project and assist in the maintenance of the network by promptly reporting faults to his outfit for resolution instead of tempering with electrical network.
