As part of efforts to streamline and regulate the operations of pragia riders within the Atiwa West District, the Assembly on Friday, 16th January,2026, had an engagement with operators and the executives of the Atiwa West Pragia Riders Association and deliberated on issues of mutual concern.
Addressing the meeting, the District Chief Executive, Mr. Amo Johnson Anom, acknowledged the role of the pragia riders in facilitating transportation in the district and highlighted the need for the riders to comply with existing road safety regulations, such as registering the pragia with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), and acquiring valid licenses from the licensing authority.
He also admonished them to register with both the assembly and the pragia association and emboss the pragia with the stickers issued by the two entities to serve as a form identification.
The District Coordinating Director, Mr. Mahamood Shakil Kpedau on his part, emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the riders and the assembly and urged them to pay their daily tolls to the assembly to support the development of the district.
During an open session the pragia riders appealed to management of the assembly to reshape and improve inner roads in some parts of the district capital to make them motorable.
Officials from the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana National Fire Service present at the meeting took turns and educated the riders on road traffic regulation.
